Lip Neutralization — Service & Experience
→ Consultation & Lip Assessment
Your appointment begins with a detailed consultation where we evaluate:
Your natural lip color and undertones
Areas of darkness, cool tones, or uneven pigmentation
Your long-term color goals
Whether you desire eventual lip blush color or subtle natural correction
Any history of cold sores, lip sensitivity, or prior procedures
This assessment determines the most appropriate neutralizing pigments and whether one or multiple sessions may be needed.
→ Mapping & Customization
A soft outline is created to define your natural lip shape without altering the structure.
Because neutralization focuses on correcting tone, the outline is used primarily for:
Balancing symmetry
Enhancing blurred or uneven borders
Ensuring consistency of correction across both lips
The mapping is shown to you for approval prior to beginning.
→ The Lip Neutralization Technique
Lip Neutralization uses carefully selected warm-toned pigments—such as peach, orange, or coral hues—to counteract cool, dark, or uneven tones in the lips.
This technique is performed using a cosmetic tattoo machine to layer pigments slowly and evenly.
※ Benefits of the Neutralization Method:
Corrects dark, cool, or uneven pigmentation
Softens two-tone or multi-tone lips
Brightens and warms the natural lip color
Creates a more even canvas for future Lip Blush sessions
Produces a subtle, natural enhancement once healed
Helps restore harmony and color balance to the lips
Neutralization is not meant to produce a bright lipstick look.
It focuses on color correction to achieve an even, warm base tone.
※ Comfort & Pain Level
A professional-grade numbing cream is applied once the skin has been opened.
Most clients describe the sensation as light tapping or a gentle vibration along the lips.
※ Healing & Aftercare
Healing typically takes 5–10 days, with full color results visible at 6–8 weeks.
During healing, clients may experience:
Mild dryness or tightness
Light flaking or peeling
Temporary brightness of pigment
Softening and evening out of color over several weeks
A detailed aftercare guide will be provided to support retention and healing.
※ Who Is a Good Candidate
Lip Neutralization is ideal for clients who have:
Darker natural lip tones
Cool-toned lips (purple, blue, or gray areas)
Two-tone or multi-tone pigmentation
Faded hyperpigmentation
Areas that appear darker along the edges or center
Also ideal for clients preparing for future Lip Blush who need a balanced, even base first.
※ Cold Sore History:
Clients prone to cold sores must take an antiviral medication before the procedure to prevent an outbreak during healing.
※ Results & Longevity
Neutralization results vary depending on your unique lip pigmentation.
Some clients achieve the desired results in one session, while others may need multiple neutralizing sessions before adding Lip Blush color.
Lip Neutralization generally lasts 1–3 years, depending on:
Skin type
Natural pigmentation
Lifestyle and sun exposure
Aftercare
※ Touch-Up Recommendation:
A touch-up at 6–10 weeks is recommended to reinforce correction, warm the color further, and smooth any areas that healed unevenly.
This session can also increase color saturation if deeper correction is desired.
The first session softens and brightens cool tones, while the second ensures an even, long-lasting finish.
※ Session Length
Your appointment is approximately 2–2.5 hours, including consultation, mapping, numbing, and the full neutralization process.
※ Important Notes
Clients must be 18+ with valid ID
Not suitable for pregnant or breastfeeding clients
Certain medications (e.g., Accutane, prescription exfoliants) may prevent eligibility
Antiviral medication is required for clients with a history of cold sores
Clients with very deep pigmentation may require multiple sessions to achieve desired balance
